Robert Simanungkalit

Robert Simanungkalit, a.k.a Rosebert or Oddmeterman, started playing classical guitar at the age of 11. His interrest on electric guitar started when he heard John Lennon of the Beatles got shot.

In 1982 he took classical guitar lesson at a local music course, and in 1983 started his first band with his school mates and played his fisrt gig in 1985. For almost ten years he was playing in many different bands, and finally in 1992, he went to Christchurch Polytechnic music faculty in New Zealand, one of the major is Jazz studies.

In 1994 he went to GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology), one of the major studies at MI (Musicians Institute) Hollywood, USA, as an extention to his studies.
So many style and some great musicians began to influence his playing after finishing school, such as Frank Gambale, Robert Heinz, Jake E Lee, Jason Becker, Paul Hanson, etc.

In 1995 he went back to Indonesia and started playing with local bands in 1996. In 1998 he started teaching in some music schools and studios. In 2001 he graduated from Studio 21 (now is LPDK) majoring audio engineering, music technology and music Business studies. At the same year he started teaching guitar at IMI (Institut Musisi Indonesia), where he hold position as Head of Guitar Instructors from July 2001 to May 2005. In the late 2008 he tagged in GSI (Guitar School of Indonesia).

Now he concentrates on making his own album and video lesson.
